Paradise North Pools wants you to have the best possible experience when purchasing and installing a new pool. To make this easier we have listed some things to consider below.
Your yard and neighbourhood is unique and therefore will have unique considerations before purchasing a pool. Some things to consider are: Do I need a building permit? Will I need a variance?
Will this impact my neighbours and do I have their approval if it is needed? Is there access to my yard for heavy equipment? Will my fence need to be removed and replaced?
What Type of Pool
What type of Swimming Pool best suits your site, needs and budget? There are 3 types of pools to choose from. You can purchase an Above Ground, an On-ground or an In-ground swimming pool. Each type of pool has unique advantages and disadvantages.
Above Ground pools are easy to install and do not generally require a lot of excavating. The most important factor is the quality of the pool kit and the levelness of the site. These pool kits can be sold as a cash & carry item and be installed by the home owner or can be installed by our experienced crew. Remember, if installing yourself, you will need manpower and a perfectly level site.
On-Ground pools are an excellent choice offering flexibility and cost effectiveness. They can be installed on top of the ground, part way in or all the way in the ground. On-Grounds will give you all the enjoyment of an In-Ground pool if you are not looking for varying depths of water. On-Ground pools come with 52” walls and are the same depth throughout. Diving would not be safe with this style of pool. While this choice will require a contractor to install, it will be less expensive than an In-Ground swimming pool.
In-Ground pools have the longest lasting value but also require the most experience to install. You will have greater flexibility for creating custom shallow and deep end depths and a great number of styles and sizes to choose from.
Fiberglass pools are also a type of in-ground pool that can provide you with a near instant oasis with the quickest install time, a variety of steps, benches and spillovers, LED lighting and thousands of colours choices. These pools usually come in one pieces and can be dropped into place once your yard has been excavated to the correct dimensions.
Why are the estimates different from each company?
As a buyer you should ask for a quote that outlines all aspects of the pool project. Many companies do not include additional costs in the first quote. You need to know all the factors before you can compare estimates and make a decision. In general your estimate should include: The cost of the pool kit including; the walls, liner, filter, pump, ladder, skimmer, all plumbing parts and maintenance kit. What type of plumbing, 1 ½” or 2”, will be used? Information should be provided about the excavation and backfilling of the pool. Will the pool be backfilled with native soil or will clear stone and stone dust be brought in? Who is responsible for obtaining site locates, building permits etc? What damage can you expect to your grass and property and who is responsible for repair? What type of repairs are included?
How are we different?
We use 2” plumbing on all of our On-Ground and In-Ground pools. This allows the customer to take full advantage of variable speed pumps. These pumps offer incredible energy efficiency and reliability. In some cases saving as much as 90% of the hydro used by traditional pumps. In most cases we do not backfill our pools with native soil. Native soil contains the debris, rocks and stumps that come out of the original excavation. This creates future problems for most pools where stones and debris can cause pool wall failure and other issues. Drainage and pool stability is better attained by using clear stone and stone dust. This will also allow for a better base when hardscape landscape choices accompany the pool. We also install drain sumps in any locations that ground water may be an issue. This allows us to pump the site completely dry if the liner needs changing or there are future issues that require maintenance.
Once you have agreed upon an estimate, Paradise North Pools provides you with a contract. This contract will outline exactly what you can expect from us and what we will require from you to give you the backyard pool of your dreams!
